Diclofenac/Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO)/Tetracaine

Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug known to reduce generalized inflammation. Topically used to treat joint arthritis pain and inflammation. This medication is available over the counter as a 1% formulation but is considered mild compared to compounded versions. When paired with DMSO, this compound can allow a more readily bioavailable medication with deeper penetration via topical route leading to greater reduction of inflammation and increased pain relief. This combination also includes a local anesthetic for immediate and prolonged pain relief while also providing a numbing affect to provide a different form of relief. When to use: This medication can be used for localized pain in joints and other locations. With topical use, patients may apply several times daily to provide instantaneous relief compared to systemic use which limits the daily amount to once or twice daily max.
