A treatment derived from Vitamin B5 that plays a critical role in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats for energy production.​ Can be used for recovery of normal bowel function after abdominal surgery. Additionally used for treating dietary deficiencies of vitamin B5.​
